lookin good for hogs this year

geckomill Jan 30, 2008 12:21 AM

this will be my third season trying to breed this pair. nothing the first season, slugs the next but it looks hopeful this go round. These are LTCs that came in as young adults a few years back and have acclimated very well despite their fowl tempers and reluctance to breed. first pic is them trying to imitate cinnamon rolls and the other two are the first action ive seen since ive had them. thanks for looking

When I had Hogs they would be horny all of the time.

The male would go off feed for months and bust up his nose trying
to escape to get at the female, and she would be going bananas
as well.

I ended up breeding them 3 years in a row because they
almost forced me too. She ended up with only 11 babies in her
last litter and a cage full of slugs. Her first two were both
over 20 with only 1 slug in the 2nd.

Yea, they have always been nervous snakes but they've settled in to their captive environment now. they are in cages with limited visibility and i only bug them to feed and clean. I didnt expect them to breed as soon as i got them but hopefully patience will pay off this year. it will be nice to have a new bloodline of hogs even though it will take a few generations to make them look nice like yours

Time isn't an issue with lots of hogs! Or so I've heard from somebody else on this forum... but my hogs think that person was right on the money with that opinion!
Mine have been going at it since I picked up my adult female a few months ago! They bred for 3 weeks straight then, and started again a month or more ago and haven't stopped to do much at all... in fact, Tang. (the female) has started trying to flick him off of her tail every now and again when starts spurring around. I think she's had enough! LOL! I didn't see a for sure ovulation, but she is gaining some weight... so maybe I missed it or she was cooking something in the photo below, but strangely... he is still furiously trying to couple with her...
Here are some pics of Tang and my orange phase male... Mr. O Sorry for the dirty paper in a couple photos, but I didn't want to bother them!

Looking plump!
