What am i ?? (PICS)

koky6869 Jan 30, 2008 01:25 PM

He finally shed for me so im posting pics of him. If you guys remember i bought this MALE snake that was advertised as an Amarali. He is almost 7 ft not 6 as advertised and is definately not an Amarali. Some people said Peruvian. I think maybe a thin saddled North Brazilian looking at tail, head and other features. What do you guys think?

Based on the color and saddles I'd say he looks like a Peruvian,
but the tail is short like a N Brasilian. I'm a novice, so what
do I know. Nice looking boa, wouldn't he be too big to breed?

That guy must be getting rabbits right?

im feeding him 2 jumbos every 2 weeks. And he is kinda big unless you stick him in with a 8 ft to 10 ft plus female.

Hi, Koky!
I've always thought that was just a gorgeous peruvian. Plus, I spoke with someone that's really into peruvians and he said that he once got a HUGE (8-9 foot I think) MALE peruvian. I respect this person’s opinion very much especially when it comes to BCC and more specifically peruvians. (I don't mean to be cryptic, but I always hesitate to mention people's names.) When I read your post, that's what I thought.

I would wager that there is a good chance that's one of Brian Sharps North Brazilians. It may well be a Peruvian, but I'm gonna guess Sharp N.B. BCC.

I remember something about way back when they were bringing in amarilli, and then they closed the border or something happened where the brazilians were limited or no longer available, and so they were breeding brazilian bcc to amarilli to 'continue' the line...
this isn't fact, atleast not every detail, but I very clearly remember a story about this.

This is why lots of the brazilian amarilli will look more bcc in shape and size.

Other than that I had also thought peruvian.

be well, Joe

I recently had some boas that were the result of a north brazilian bred to an amarali. They looked just like nice bolivians but with big red tails. If i had to guess i'd say peruvian though with all that bold silver and red! nothing beats a nice peruvian boa

for what it's worth, as I was falling asleep last night i was thinking about this more.. I started to think maybe it was actually one breeder who did this back in the day... he couldn't get more authentic braz amar so her used a braz bcc to a bol amar to get the blood going again...

again, i don't remember the exact detail, but I clearly remember this whole thing... lol

If it was a naturally occurring boa, I'd say it was Peruvian, from the area where Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil meet.
