That hatchling pic is so cool! I don't know much about the different kinds.
Maybe my injured gecko will procreate eventually, and hopefully I'll find a cute one in my hand for the first time.
Out of my 4 tangerines, she's the nicest and best with people. So calm, laid back, and nice, I really want her to pass her good genes along. I love all 4, but she'll always be my first love. I still haven't experienced loving and bonding with a gecko hatchling ( much more considering a bond from hatchling to adult - a nice find experience I bet!) Many breeders have experienced that, and looking forward to maybe that happening to me one day.

she got 2 stitches in.And she's recovering from bullying of her tail. Enjoy the pic of this....

P.S. You have fine specimens on your site. It's my first time breeding, and to keep this question simple and not so rambling, How long do you leave a couple together before signs of pregnancy?

paulnj Jan 30, 2008 10:04 PM

That tang looks great. I leave my males in as long as it take for them to mate. I watch every mating too with my enigmas and mack het raptors. my mack blizzard het rainwaters live together in a 1.3, but those are the only ones housed in a group.

Beautiful, wish they'd stay those colors sometimes. They're just too cute as little babies like that, I want just one more when we get a house.

(of course, my boyfriend is thinking leachie, we may have some problems. )

Again, thanks for the picture, great looking baby.

What do you think of them? As far as handling? Which island?

But the real question, really, how much poo? (We did all our research before getting a crested, but nobody ever mentioned the shear amount of "leavings" she would be leaving... and how hard she'd try to get them through the cage bars later in life.)

Thanks in advance, it would be nice to hear from a person with a leo background (seeing your site), somehow I always expect everything to be as sweet as a leo.

I have a 1.2 of young island E's, I got in trade for some leos(trades are fun too). They are honestly not as fun as leos, take more upkeep and harder to feed, but they are pretty neat. They are docile and easy to handle(well mine are) and I honestly got them blindly and took a crash course in owning them...

They do ah.. crap alot, but I came from breeding boids, so I don't mind so much.

To be honest..... I think I will trade them away for some knobbies soon because I enjoy the insectivore terrestrials more, though my amel velvets are the coolest!

Thanks for the honest opinion, pretty much what I was expecting since we have a small Rhac, our crested, but it sounds like I shouldn't worry as much about handling. Our girl has ADD, so the idea of something several times her size with that particular trait was concerning. So leachie is still on the consideration block.

Knobbies are very cute too, but I've been pulled away from them by frog eyed geckos, not sure if I can handle the watering requirements of them though. You keep telling me about your trades and I'll keep researching so I can get something really neat. I mean, three years ago I wanted a Uromastyx, but was concerned about the lack of care information that agreed, now there are books, I argue there is nothing funnier than a uro shelling millet in its mouth... I could be suckered back into one of them. Good thing I'm not an impulse buyer.

(who's betting in two years I end up with another leo instead of the piles of research I've been doing?)

I love reptiles beyond words. I bred snakes for years, owned many monitors, but now moved to gecko addiction.

I want to own every gecko species I see, but have contained myself quite well for the most part.

Ooohh, what do you suggest for a big but friendly monitor? I'm not kidding, I want to move back to what used to be our family farm in retirement, now its broken into hobby farms and I'm scared of some of the wild life (irrationally). I was thinking a big monitor instead of a dog. My boyfriend thinks I'm looney, but the picture of this big lizard walking around my living room and plopping down in front of the fireplace just seems to fit.

(ok, I am looney, but it could have his own room)

Your a maniac, but I can relate.

Most monitors of size are not dog tame, but I have owned a few water monitors, bluetailed monitors, and a blue tegu that tolerated humans well.

I would go with a rare breed mastiff type myself

dogue de bordeaux

tosa inu

Thanks for the info... Ironically, once I found out that mastiffs are considered one of the smartest breeds of dogs I considered it... but I can't handle all the drool.

Thanks for all the help. I'll stop jacking your thread now. But I've learned a lot.

I don't care if you "jack my thread"

Tosa inu's don't drool much , but are very protective in nature and need to have a strong owner who teaches them from birth.

fila brasileiro is another rare breed mastiff type that doesn't drool so much... usually.

The yellow eyelids are cool aren't they? They accent the glowing orange eyes great!
