position of fan in incubator

cocchiara Jan 30, 2008 03:40 PM

I am making a new incubator from a refrigerator and am wondering about the fan placement. We have the heating element placed at the bottom. I thought about putting it at the top so it flows down due to the heat rising, but i am not really sure.
any and all help is greatly appreciated.

That is a good question. I'm going to be making my own too and from what I've seen they prefer 11" flexwatt on the bottom and partially up both sides with the racks at least 12" above the heating element and two computer fans at the top, one facing down and one towards a wall to help get an even gradiant temp. But I wouls like to know is do you hook the fans to the t-stat or leave them run all the time?
