Enclosure help

UroMagnus Jan 30, 2008 04:24 PM

I plan to acquire a 2'nd Uro (male) in a few months and am looking into a new tank keeping them in. I have my female in a 40 gallon breeder now and plan to use a 100 gallon breeder for my new set up. With this new tank I am planning to split it in 1/2 using a plexi glass divider with a (partially) removable partition. This way I can keep them together or seperate (more often) as needed. Of course I will have duel hot cold areas. My question is... does any source sell the tank in this arrangement or should I do the mods myself.

Any info would be appreciated - does anyone have a set up like this?

Thanks - Mike

you can always build one. i built my first one a lil bit ago and it cost me around $100. its 4ft tall, 4ft wide, and 2ft deep, but i split it into 2. a top and bottom. so each enclosure is about 4ft tall, 4ft wide, and 2ft deep.

I am pretty sure you can get tank partitions. They have been used for breeding colonys of fish. Check with a local petshop that deals with aquariums/specializes in fish. Since you already have the tank, should be easy enough to have a piece of plexi glass or regular glass cut to the size needed and just silicon caulk it in. Even a piece of plywood to size would work. If you cut the wood slightly larger, you may even be able to gently tap into position and it will hold enough to keep the tank separated for your uros.
