Feeding?

bowhunter1963 Jan 30, 2008 06:29 PM

Hello,I have two cal. kings that are 18 months old. They were both eating about the same but now the male isn't eating as well. Both snakes have the same set-ups and same temps.Since 11-25 the male has eaten 3 weanlings and the female has had 15.She is about 35-36" now and he is about 31-32".They were the same size now I'm wondering if something maybe wrong with the male.He is still active and doesn't look like he is losing weight.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.

He is off feed because he knows he should be in hibernation. Male king snakes often go off feed in the Fall.

Last year he ate all winter long.Is it because he is getting older? Thanks

Yep, hatchlings will usually eat through their first winter. Technically your snake is now an adult.
