Genetics on Clear Nail Hypo Dragons??

reptimals Jan 30, 2008 07:20 PM

Hello, I am curious about the genetics for clear nail hypos as I have a couple.

I was told that if you breed a clear nail hypo to a regular dragon, then about half the babies would be clear nail hypos... which would make the gene work in a co-dominant manner and only one parent would need the gene in order to produce more clear nail hypos...

Then I noticed in the classifieds that people are selling "HET" clear nail hypo dragons ... which would make them recessive and both parents would have to have the clear nail hypo gene in order to produce clear nail hypos ...

well that is how it was with my boas and balls atleast ... its either one or the other ... so what is it .. are they co-dom or recessive or something else??

thanks for the help ...

The clear nailed trait is recessive.

Check the this site: http://www.dachiu.com/care/hypomelanism.html

The Dachiu's have it all there for you to learn.

I love the picture of those two bearded dragons. When the photo loaded on the screen it actually hurt my eyes for a second!
