new red tail

i just got a 5 foot red tail today who used to be a breeder hes about 5 foot long and he holds his head side ways alot when hes in the air or climbing on something but it doesnt seem to effect his movement at all. i was just wondering if anybody has ever heard of this before and if its an illness or not.

if your snake is moving or resting in an unnatural way then there is a big chance that something is wrong with your snake. it might just be an environmental issue or a neurological disorder that doesnt affect its health but it could be something worse too. I would see about contacting the breeder it came from originally and see if this is how the snake has always behaved or if it is something that has developed since. I'd take the snake to a good vet either way

i got him from the breeder and he told me that he has acted that way his whole life.

If your snake has consistantly behaved that way from the day it was born and grown to be an otherwise healthy adult then it seems unlikely to me that something is actively harming your snake. I still recommend seeking a good vet. A quick x-ray could reveal an old injury or other tests can tell if it is related to an infection or who knows. I dont like to go to the vet but that sort of stuff would bug me not to figure out. I hope it all works out for you
