I thought all of Graziani's were this?
Nope. Genetic banding is a visual mutation, some have proven to be dominant and some recessive. They are reduced in pattern and have intense blushing in the bands with nearly no flecking.

I don't know, I've seen thousands of snakes like that. So its two mutations crossed? Pastel and banded? are the normals out of a genetic banded pastel clutch banded sometimes?
Awesome snakes....I am shoping around for pastels and am sorta new to all the gentic variations but gotta say those are sweet!
I like the bright yellows and the reduced pattern...looks like tiger balls!
Sorry I meant "genetic"
Thanks. They are the same thing as tigers that is just one of several names for them. Those pics are really bad too. Their color is much better. It is kind of like what the fire and yellow belly do to other morphs. They clean them up and get rid of the dark pigment in the lighter coloration.
About five years ago, I purchased a pair of "banded pastels" from a KS ad. I don't remember who sold them but my thought at the time was that they may LOOK banded, but doubtful it will prove genetic. They were nice looking and the price was right.
Now that I have bred the male for the last couple of years, there is no question he is genetic! That nice banding comes through to at least half the offspring in each clutch!
It's up to me as a breeder to prove out a trait that may or may not be there. Once you prove it, there is no question. This pastel is a genetic banded.
I don't doubt that Evansnakes has genetic bandeds and he was just trying to answer the guy's question!

Gorgeous animals! I love bandeds and reduced patterns. Mind if I ask if yours have any 'markers'? I've seen some bandeds with green eyes before, just wondering if your animals have them or if I just ran across a cool aberrant normal.
Either way, love em! You gonna be in San Diego anytime soon?

Thanks Jenny, they have a horseshoe like marker on the top of their head kind of like fires. The pastel is very green-ish in person too. I think I wil breed the male pastel back to his mom next year and see what happens. I would love to get out of here and come out CA (especially since we are getting a foot of snow again tonight) but I am stuck home taking care of the animals.
I was wondering if you ever came to the shows out here - none of the vendors I usually see ever seem to work with the reduced or banded patterns.
We're not getting any snow, but we are freezing our Californian butts off. It's been in the high 60s lately and my lizard-like blood can't take it! Haha.

Here's a couple of pics of our Genetic Banded male we picked up from J&J Reptiles. He's breeding some normal females now. If we can get a little more weight on our Pastel females we may try for a few Genetic Banded Pastels. Thanks for looking.
