The Ghost with the tipping shed

exposito Jan 31, 2008 03:23 PM

This girl was posted below on a post about Hypos and Tipping. This girl has agreat deal of tipping and her shed is all clear. I could not find any patern at all on it. She is Het Albino, so we are looking forward to future projects that she will be a part of.

Thanks!

My Ghost is 66% het Amel (from triple hets)....and she a bit darker but they look very similar.

I don't have a recent pic...but here's one of her belly.

Hi Rusty,

I like the belly pattern. Is that a Ghost or an Anerythristic? It looks really dark in the pic, but I know you can't always tell from a pic. What did you decide to use for your brumation method this year?

Thanks!

Hey Joe,

I used to think that this Hondo was a very clean Anery...then I posted some pictures and people said both Anery and Ghost...but then I purchased an Anery from Matt L. and after looking at them side by side I'd say she's a ghost for sure.

She's not as heavily tipped up as her clutch mate (a tri-color hypo) but is a tad darker.

I also have another half sibling to the two females (the Ghost and Hypo are clutch mates) from another triple het pairing...she's an Amel (I think Hybino) 66% het Anery and Hypo if not a Hybino.

As far as brumation goes...I decided not to put them in the frig this year...I just kept them up...turned off the automatic lights and closed the drapes to the window. I did keep heat going at night only and fed them half as much (about every two weeks). I don't know if I'll be successful breeding this year, but I wanted to try something different (easier)...so if it works I'll be happy.

Let me know what you think about the pics...or if you disagree on my conclusions.

Thanks,
Rusty

I posted this picture a while back...and I just wanted to show you all how she's changed.

It looks like the gap has remained about the same size...but as she grows it looks relatively smaller.

She's also gotten a bit more orange to the once yellow...and tipped up quite a bit...but I still like her a lot.

FYI, whatever it is looks to be Genetic.

Once they are ready I will pair up the two with unrelated pairs and see if that missing or lighter scale shows up..

Here are two neonates that I got from Rusty, any relation to that Tri Color Hypo female? Which BTW are doing GREAT!!

That made your triple hets....

RG Feb 01, 2008 05:14 PM

Are from the same awesome Ghost that sired the triple hets...the female is a standard Hypo het Anery....

Hi Rusty,

The first pic of the belly is real dark, but after looking at these I would say that is a Ghost. Good luck with that brumation method. Maybe we can all learn something from your trials this year.

Thanks!

Joe,......thanks for following up on that, that's an interesting find, as that youngster is pretty heavily tipped.

That's pretty interesting, because if you did say so I would never had called that a ghost. I am guessing because of the genetics it is.

What were the parents and other clutch mates?

This is a link to a pic of the clutch on Adam's site. The two Ghosts are on the right and you can see an Anerythristic on the left. The pairing was a Triple Het to an Albino Double Het. There are also Albinos, a Snow, and a Tricolor in the clutch.

Thanks!

So, considering that it is het to het, genetically there is the possibility that this is simply a clean anery.

The same genitics that caused the wild type baby in the clutch.

No,

clearly she is a Ghost and not a very clean one at that. Here she is with an Anerythristic, so you can see the difference.

Thanks!

This first ghost just has a cool belly ...

The second and third pics are of two females that each have a 50% chance of being het albino.

I don't know whats worse, the suspense of playing roulette at the casino or the suspense of watching possible het babies hatch. At least with the snakes hatching you don't really loose anything but on the other hand, at the casino you don't wait for 2 months to find out what happens! Could you imagine! I can be a gambling man at times and tend to always play 2 columns - that 66% just makes me feel so warm and fuzzy until they take my chips away! Oh wait, maybe that warm fuzzy feeling is just the tripple rye and coke that usually accompanies roulette to calm the nerves!
