Hi
im a newbe and posted this in the kingsnake forum, the only reply i got was ( for those in the USA , Slough = Shed ).

Here is my original post, and could anyone help with some information please.

i was wondering if any one has kings fresh from brumation that go strait into a slough cycle, also has it affected the normal breeding timescale process.
the reason for the question is that out of 10 pairs 15 have gone strait into a slough cycle after a normal 3 month brumation. ie 2 week intro (slow temp and light drop). 3 months at 54 brumating, then a 2 week outro (slow rise in temp and light).
nothing has changed from any other years brumation.
do i carry on as normal and disregaurd this first shed and wait for the females to second slough then use that as the intro cue for the pairings.

PDC.

I've had that happen with a few of my corns and ignored that first shed and used the second shed as an "indicator"
it worked for me

I let the female decide. If she is good enough weight/health, and sheds right out of brumation I will introduce a male Cautiously. She will show right away if she is not ready.

Hi xblackheart
Thankyou for the reply, i did think about that but would rather get some food into my females first, even though they do look in fantastic shape after their brumation.
Thanks again.
