Fact or Fiction?

If you have a female that is an adult, but has gone off food and now is borderline "fat" enough to breed, if you breed her and she takes, she will probably start eating right away?

A gravid snake will not eat after she ovulates 99% of the time. At least that's what I've read, been told and experienced so far.

Fact. I have had females off feed. Put in a male and within the week shes eating. I think it snaps them out of there fast and there bodies tell them it's time to build and I need food . Thats my feeling for what it's worth. Claude

last year....I bred 38 females,,,,29 laid eggs....most good....and I feed all year IF they will eat...right now they are feeding well and ones that didn't breed well yet have or will start to breed better now......the girl tells him when she will allow breeding........no matter how many days he lays on her and tries.....

yes....take a 1000 gram female and breed her, she will eat and lay......and you will have little babies.........LOL

If you mean do females generally start feeding better after being bred to a male - in my experience yes for the most part - tho I do think you need the introduction earlier in the season. If the breeding has "taken" meaning she is gravid - then no not likely in general females don't feed after becoming gravid - tho there are exceptions.

Most of my females were already good eaters. When I started breeding them, they became VORACIOUS eaters. I would open their tubs and half of them would come flying out of the tubs to get the food. After about two months of this, most of them have gone off feed.
