If only they would focus on whats really problematic with this country we would be better off, i dont see why they spend time on topics like this.

My two cents: What a scary development! To pick on ALL boas and pythons is utter stupidity. I can imagine why some snakes might be banned (look at what the brown tree snake did on Guam), but how is a ball python going to be "injurious to wildlife and human beings"? From what I have learned about snakes of the two-legged variety (e.g., greedy developers who destroy precious habitats), I think it's THEY who should be banned from crossing state lines. I hope enough herpers will write letters, make calls, etc. to stop the current bill and help come up with a more sensible one.

we need to keep the letters coming to the USF&W and keep the heat on, and let them know we won't stand for this. Look what happened in Texas, so please take this problem seriously.
This is against our rights, so please don't take it lightly.

Anybody that keeps any herps at all needs to start composing well thought out letters to oppose this idea. It is important to persuade them, not just rant and rave... No matter how stupid this plan is.

For one the perceived danger is far less than the real one posed by "man's best friend". If such a ban is founded in public safety and any data was looked at for the pet trade as a whole then herps would be close to the bottom of the list, topped by far by livestock and dogs.

As for conservation, this will in effect close down the exchange of captive produced animals which are the very reason that wholesale importers are having a lower impact now then several years ago. They should instead promote any captive breeding projects in the private sector... after all hobbyist have done far more than academics to further our understanding of captive reproduction of herps.
