Solitary Or Social?

Solomon Aug 27, 2003 12:13 AM

I was wondering if Uro's are better kept in pairs, then by themselves? What got me thinking this was, the one Uro that I own, who was housed with several others, and since we got her home, hasn't doing much of anything. Barely eating, always sleeping and the temps and lighting are where they should be.
Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

it takes a while for them to acclimate so they usually dont do much for the first few months. After that they are as calm and tame as must beardies. Your not supose to hold your uro for the first month. If you hold him it will take longer if you dont it wont take nearly as long to acclimate.

From all that I have researched I have come to the conclusion that they are better off being alone. They do not crave having company like some animals do. They are perfectly content having the full run of the house themselves . Also, if you try to pair them up, it can be difficult and then you can end up with 2 that can't get along and have to be seperated anyhow.

Better off alone when in doubt unless your purpose is to breed or something like that.

As far as yours not doing much, as the other poster said, they need time to acclimate. But they don't "do" a whole lot anyhow other than basking, hangin out, maybe some climbing the walls, etc. Not sure if you are expecting more than that Just give him some time.

good luck!
