The same old record is playing with this current legislation. Please remember when writing any letters, emails, etc. concerning anti-reptile legislation that you have one priority...

EDUCATE!

Remember that the politicians are not reptile keepers. They do not know the ins and outs and do not understand why we keep reptiles. Calling the big shots idiots (and much more colorful terms) is the worst scenario. Remember your goal in contacting them is to present the reptile community in a positive light and demonstrate our knowledge and composure.

Also, please do not down-grade or highlight others with the same issues. Many owners of certain dog breeds and other exotics share our pain. Pit bulls are not a problem. Venomous reptiles are not a problem. Tigers are not a problem. Irresponsible owners are a problem.

That is the exact argument the gun lobby uses. It works for them. Personal responsibility and enforcement of current laws already on the books. Makes sense, doesn't it.
