Can the "Coral" trait show up over time?

LordDreyfus Feb 04, 2008 07:07 AM

I purchased an 06 female albino het for snow boa at last year's florida expo from Frank Martin (Thanks Frank!). At that time she was beautiful, but did not exhibit any "coral" traits. She was about 38-42 inches when I purchased her.

Last night I got her out, and to my surprise I noticed that she is getting faint splashes of pink on her face, neck and most of the forward part of her body (I haven't checked out the rest of the body in good light yet). They are too faint to show up with the crappy camera I have, but its a huge change considering there wasn't any trace 6 months ago.

What can I expect in the future from her? Isn't it late for color to be coming in? I thought that most albinos lost the majority of red as they aged....not gained more.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Travis

Attached is a pic that Frank took for me prior to purchasing. She still looks like the pic except she is more canary yellow now...that and the pink spashes.

Some snakes gain color as they age depends on the selective breeding. Some lines of the kahl albinos retain the reds others do not. Thats the fun part of raising a snake to see how it turns out as it ages. I have a dbl het snow female that is looking better in my opinion than a lot of "pastels". Ive been meaning to contact the guy that produced her to find the lineage. Just sit back take care of her and watch how she turns out. Sometimes they will suprise you.

I have a female albino het snow that did the exact same thing. I have talked to a few other folks and they concurred that their het snows where doing the same thing.
