I eat human infants. They, like everything else, taste like chicken. What?

My Guess would probably be the Diamond Python, which I think is the most southern python in the world...they seem to tolerate a pretty low temp. I am not sure how low, but I have heard down in the 50's....for extended periods of time.

No there are no snakes in New zealand.
Diamond pythons live in NSW (south east) of Australia.

No, there are no snakes of any kind on New Zealnd. Just some really cool geckos, skinks, and tuataras.
I would guess that the first post about diamonds is correct. They definetely hibernate like north american colubrids although in the summer they need warm basking spots. And yes they are from South eastern australia.
Probably Boelen's and diamonds. Temps in their range often dip into the 40s.

Thanks for the replys. I was wondering if there was a python equivilant to the Rubber Boa. Sounds like Diamonds and Boelens(spch?) come close but Rubbers have been seen moving around at 40 degrees.

Boelens get my vote as the most cold loving. The reason I say that is that they do well with cold nights year round. When you drop a diamond python into the 60's, you're most likely giving it a winter cool down and not feeding it. Dropping a boelen's into the 60's at night... that's just a tuesday.
Although not Pythons, Mandarin Phase Sanzinia tolerate cold nights really well too.

Yeah, there are a few boas that are found in cold places but not too many pythons...hmmm
Anyone care to guess why?
