has anyone used one of the reptile foggers to raise humidity?has it caused any RI problems?its very dry in my house and this is the only way to keep it high enough for my panther chameleons.will them sitting directly in the fog hurt them?

iv'e heard that sometimes the foggers can short circuit and shock chameleons, ( or other tank inhabitants), sometimes to death. i would avoid them altogether... since chameleons climb, they would undoubtedly climb on the wires or head of the fogger..
just my opinion though.

Actually I don't think the shock hazard is all that great. When many of us talk about using a fogger we are talking about an ultrasonic room humidifier located just outside the cage. The water and nebulizer that creates the fog aren't exposed at all so there is no shock hazard. Even if someone uses a small terrarium fogger in the cage you can easily barricade it with hardware cloth. You'd want to do this anyway to keep roaming crickets out of the reservoir. I find the small terrarium foggers don't last very long and are fussy to maintain.
i have it sitting on top of the screen cage so the fog rolls down into it.i only plan on using it durring the dry winter months.
I have the same problem w/ my Jacksons....I'm thinking about getting a room humidifier.
