VPI book

I want to say how impressed I am with all the information in the VPI book. It is really well written, and the pics are amazing. Since I have not been to Daytona, half the pics for me, are animals I had never really seen before.

One thing they can improve...the text under the pics is WAY too light, I have great eyesight, but I can barely read it, so I know others cannot read it easily, or at all.

Great book, will be getting NERDS soon enough.

Ditto...that book is what it claims to be - the best book about a single species of snake.

I've told people this... if you keep ANY type of snake, you need to get two books: Dave and Tracy's POTW vol. Two AND a book that tells you about the specific kind of snake that you keep.

(If you keep balls, then you only need one book.)

When I was talking to Tracy about subocs few months ago, I told her how much I like their book...she said something to the effect of, "Even we don't feel that we've left anything out of it. No regrets." For an author to truthfully state that they have no regrets is really saying something.

The Barkers really went above and beyond the call of duty. If I can sum up the book in one word, exhaustive comes to mind.

I forgot the award "perhaps best independently published?" but it did win an award. For a book about snakes to win a prestigious national award is quite impressive.

Congrats to VPI.

I agree with you on the too-light picture captioning. I have better than perfect vision (ask my doctor!) and I was having issues reading that!

The book was a huge wealth of knowledge though, and provided a lot of insight and knowledge that was easy to understand. Easily one of my favorite books of all time!
