a few pics from the field...

Hey folks...here are a few old milk snake shots from the field. I'll leave the locality and subspecies info out for now...

I think we're looking at about two months until the first milks peek out from their burrow and eventually come out and sit under cover here. Can't wait...

Whats the species in the top pic? Here in Iowa we have a hit or miss with the Eastern Milks I have a spot that last year had dozens but this year they could have moved. They seem isolated either you find them or ya don't but thats the fun of feild herping.

Hmmmm......
#1 could be a really boring NE pale
the rest all look like KS milks and I'm really digging #4 and 6.
Hope you get an early spring so you don't go stir-crazy.
Do you have pics of the milks from the Flint Hills NWR area just SE of Emporia? Could you post a few if you have any pls??
Thanx, Jeff

I think Hardwick is right, #1 multistrata NE, the rest syspila KS. #2 is strange looking to me, for some reason I want to say celaenopsish, but I know better and will go w/ gentilis/syspila intergrade.

I hope it's not to early of a spring Jeff, other wise Cole and I will miss the Kansas herp window.
