Mex kings breed without brumation?

TwoSnakes Feb 06, 2008 02:49 AM

Hello
I have a 3 yr old male and 2.5 yr old female Mex King. I did not brumate them this year .Moved to Miami
I shut off ac in room they are in Sept and temps range from mid 80s in day to high/mid 60s at night both have never eaten so much in their lives or as active .
While living in NY they did "sleep" during winter.
I am thinking of trying to breed them would it be a waste of time without a winter rest period for the female?

If so will try next year .

Thanks

Guezzzz I wonder how all those mass producers of colubrids in fla, produce those tens of thousands of snakes WITHOUT BRUMATION.

Hibernation is a responce to ADVERSE weather, it has nothing to do with breeding of any dang snake. To breed snakes, just give them temp choices.

If anything, constant high temps tells snakes NOT TO BREED. Cheers

Thanks for the reply though no need to be sarcastic because you can lower temps with ac in Florida to 60/65

Either way thanks
