herp law resource center

jeffb Feb 06, 2008 10:28 AM

After much discussion with our corporate directors and with former officers involved in our NRAAC organization we have decided that now is not the time to re-launch that organization, or create a new one, but to focus our efforts on supporting the current organizations that exist and assisting those organizations and our users and vendors connect and work together by providing tools and resources.

Later this week kingsnake.com will be launching a herp law resource center to address the increasing issues confronting our hobby, such as the current USF&W effort regarding boas & pythons. This resource center will be staffed by employees & contractors of our company along with a core group of volunteers. The center will be designed and equipped to provide resources and assistance to individuals and organizations dealing with herp law issues at the international, federal, state, and local levels.

One of it's features, the Herp Law Alerts mailing list, launched today, and other resources will be added quickly. If you are interested in volunteering to assist us, please watch this forum, or the mail list for upcoming details.

Hi Jeff,

It has been a long time!

Is the resource center going to accept donations to help fight this issue, or do you recommend sending our donations directly to PIJAC?

Dave

Hi Dave, it has been a long time. You still driving that Isuzu through the desert?

The budget for the herp law resource center will be covered from the operating funds of kingsnake.com

I don't know that we are at a point in the fight where funds are required. If you still wish to make a donation I would either donate to PIJAC or your local herp club. Maybe talk to the clubs officers and have them start a "legal defense fund" for general purposes. I feel that had we been doing that over the years here in Texas when the time came last year the clubs would have been sitting on an enormous war chest that they could have utilized.

LOL! No, I retired the Isuzu many years ago and they don't have many Alterna cruising the cuts up here in WI.

Thanks for the reply and and let me know if I can be of any help.

Dave

Thanks for taking on this task. This will be a HUGE benefit to the herp community.

I agree! I'm in with both feet!!! Let's all jump in with both feet. It makes sense that this whole thing be run from a central location that makes sense. Kingsnake.com already has a vast staff and circulation to make it the best place to be the hub of what is happening and what we can all do to make the most impact on preserving our rights. This is not a popularity contest or a wrestling match. Put aside whatever differences anyone might have with anyone else. We are ALL in the same fight. We are all in the exact same trench trying to win the same battle. So grab your metaphorical rifle and lets get over that ridge!
