Thayeri background check (Mike Thorn?)

myotismn Feb 06, 2008 12:28 PM

I bought a pair of adult thayeri about 10 years ago. One of them was this female, the other has since died. I was told that they were originally purchased from Mike Thorn at the Daytona Show. As I have learned more about Thayeri I have been trying to do background checks to find out their original line if they are pure. Has anyone ever heard of Mike Thorn or know anything about his Thayeri.

visual appearance does not raise any red flags, what ever that may be worth.

Speaking of..... and changing the subject. Have you seen the pics of the Mex-Mex that are banded like a MSP thayeri?

There are so many things from down south that will just muddy up the "looks" standard.

I sent an email, but this is a pic online at Sierraherps.com (Robert Hansen)..

Very cool and nothing like a "normal" mex-mex...

adds to the taxanomic mex-mes?

MSP Mex-Mex?

I've only seen one other mex mex from that locality and it's pretty similar to that one.

While not quite as dramatic as the one posted, Tony Mangini at AAM Snakes had a few pretty wide saddled mex mex. the pics are still under the available page. They are about as close to the pic posted as I have seen. Unfortunately I found them too late, but one or two come pretty close.

His site is listed under the businesses here on kingsnake.

"The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think. Oh by the way, which ones pink?"

Unfortunately I have not heard of Matt Thorn in the 10 years I've been working w/ Thayeri but that doesn't say/mean too much. I'd value Tony D's input on this has he has been around much longer and would probably know from attending Daytona shows himself.

Like Joe Forks said, the picture doesn't send up any red flares for me but I do understand your angle and wish you well getting the info you need.

If memeory serves Mike was definately homo sapien (non hybrid)but I can't speek to his locality status. Its a safe bet he's generic.

I know Dennis Thomas down at Daytona had some Mike Thorn bloodline thayeri in his collection. I think (though I could be wrong on this one) that Mitch Allen has some Mike Thorn animals in his collection too.
