locust ? are they a treat item ?

ive recently started giving my beardie small locust, i was a little unsure wether these are high in fat etc.

should i use these as a treat items or is it ok to give him them instead of crix every few days

We were just discussing this on the chameleon forum as well, but i wouldnt feed "locusts" which are actually cicadas, to lizards at all. Theyre high in chitin and they harbor parasites, at least thats what ive read. I'm sure they would be alright as a VERY occasional treat for a full grown dragon...

but *I* personally, wouldnt do that.
