Freshly shed!

j3nnay Feb 06, 2008 04:47 PM

How long do your boas usually take to shed after going clear again? I thought this snake was going to shed a few WEEKS ago, but she went from somewhat opaque to perfectly clear and hadn't shown any indications of wanting to shed since then.
So, I fed her a couple days ago, and the day afterwards, she shed. I usually like to wait when my snakes are that close to shedding, but she really didn't look at all like she was going to shed.
How do you know when your boas are about to shed? Do they normally have that long of a 'clear' period after going opaque? I was VERY suprised.

In any case, here's the freshly-shed pics. Common boa or not, I think she is absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks for looking!

Usually only a week or so but I'll let you in on a secret.....

They can't read so they don't know how/when they're supposed to do things.

She looks great, nice and healthy!!!

I was just suprised at the length of the clear period - my other snakes usually shed within a day or two of going clear, and some don't even go clear at all.

Luckily for me she is a tough cookie with a calm disposition to boot.

Thanks!
