Snow Suboc

Subocs are just plain rad.

When you see a beautiful H-patterned animal, you can't help but just say, "WOW!". They have the coolest pattern, the prettiest colors, the body-shape of a ratsnake, the earthy feel of a Pituophis, and the face of no other snake out there. They're really special.

When I see an H-snake that's all white, it just blows my mind. These things are just rad looking. Craig Trumbower hatched and photographed this beauty.

That is a gorgeous animal. Just think about breeding that with your patternless!! That will be awesome!

I agree. The Patternless is quite a little steamer already. Breeding him into Silvers and Snows will be insanely fun. Looking forward to see Patternless Suboc designer morphs, for sure.

Is it just me who can't stand the missing scale on the albinos' heads?
Looking forward to the book, Dusty.

As they say in the south, if I had my druthers, I'd prefer the normally-scaled albinos, but I think both albino morphs are beautiful. So let's not throw out the baby with the bath water, all for one minor detail. That Snow, for example, is SMOKIN' HOT. And as a sidenote, some of the Albino Blondes from the Loma Alta and European lines (the two lines without the frontal scale) have hatched with the frontal scale. Weird, eh? (But cool!)

So you can get normally-scaled Albinos (and presumably Snows) from both kinds now.

Right now, we're working with all three strains of albinism (River Road, Loma Alta, and Euro) and I have a hunch that the Euro and Lomas are influenced by the same gene and are allelic.

That's very wierd.
In fact, I'd say it was genetically more likely to lose more scales than to replace the lost one.
Interesting.

I have seen albino subocs recently FS on KS that were from the RR area and a claim of normal head scales. Anyone else familiar with this. I think the ad said they were from europe, but I may be wrong on that. I thought the albinos came from the Loma Alto area off Hwy. 277. Just curious Thanks

Here's the short of it...there are 3 known strains of Albino Subocs in captivity:

River Roads (RRs) descended from a male caught on the RR by Dave Long. These are normally-scaled. VPI got this line going.

The Europeans hatched in a European collection by sheer luck. Their ancestors are thought to have come from RR long ago. Missing scale.

The Loma Altas are descended from a male caught on 277. It was sold to Don Soderberg, and was lent out on loan to VPI. Missing scale too.
