It is once again coming into rattlesnake roundup time in Texas and Sweetwater is already gettin g news play on the local stations. It should also be noted that the Sweetwater gang descended on the state capitol with some rattlesnakes and spent a dahy giving educational talks. Attendants included the governor.
It seems to me that the roundup folks have done a much better job than the hobbyists at making friends and influencing people and thus they are pretty much left unbothered. The herp community might take some lessons from them and start getting some positive publicity, rather than waiting for the bad apples to hog the news.
