Subocs have 40 pairs of chromosomes while most if not all of our other native colubrids have 36-38.

does that mean (theoretically) I can breed a rat/fox/cornsnake X milk/kingsnake X bull/pine/gophersnake X coachwhip/racer x "hognosesnake"? so that means the possibilities arent endless, but their darn close to it. if that is the case maybe I should add some blue racers back into my collection. blue racer X cali king, now that would be a snake to see, just have to get passed the whole canablism thing

Yeah, even Bogertophis rosaliae only has 38 chromosome-pairs, and that would be the most likely match of all N. American Lampropeltinines.
