A few OT pics (post porn)

rainbowsrus Feb 07, 2008 12:42 PM

This is why I like seeing my snakes going at it, This is Crystal, a DH snow that was bred by Fireball, a TH moonglow.

Lots of opportunities for visual morphs from this pair:
Moonglow (Hypo/Albino/Anery)
Snow (Albino/Anery)
Sunglow pos (Hypo/Albino) and pos het Anery
Ghost (Hypo/Anery) and pos het Albino
Albino pos het Anery
Anery pos het Albino
Hypo pos het Albino, pos het Anery
Normal pos het Albino, pos het Anery

Phew!!!

You can see a clear swelling on the laft hand side of the pics, not sure if it's pre-ovulation or ovulation but either way, it's a positive sign of sucessful mating.

to help identify which is which:
Foreground is Crystal almost mid body with tail end towards the left.
Then Fireballs head (body passes under crystal and out the right
Next loop is Fireballs tail, loops around from right
Than Crystals head resting on Fireballs body.

This year they're acting like pornstars on a who can produce the most babies reality TV show.

thast awesome to hear all my snakes are pets but i also love the breeding part and its just fun to go thru the whole breeding ovulate eggs incubate hatch thign minus eggs and incubate for boas but it bums me out when not 1 pairing i have does anythign at all but thats life and i got otehr thigns going on like geckos and rats so its ok

rainbowsrus Feb 07, 2008 04:08 PM

Yeah, it's a dissapointment when any do not take.

LOL rats, I've bred soooooooo many rats over the last 20 years. I couldn't even begin to put a number on it other than tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands. Right now I'm starting 11 litters a week. That's around 100 - 150 babies a week. Wow, that's 5000+ a year, guess it may very well be in the hundreds, probably so if you include the stinking mice!!!

yeah after my encounter with mice being super skiddish stinky and not breeding im only dealing with my lil 1 male 3 female breeding group its gives me somethign else to do with my time and gives me free well kinda free food along the way

From reading posts on the boa forum since I've been on ks, it seems like late November if you have some cool weather (not likely for you or me) or any cool front that blows in shortly after that point. I plan on putting mine together around Dec. 1 or so, while having 88 hot spots year around and prolly 80 at night so when I drop the ntl's to 75 or so they will clearly notice the difference. But all in all my boas can't understand me and have been wanting to bite me a lot lately so we are not on speaking terms yet so therefore I haven't gotten to step two which is to read but I got a couple of years to master it thoughlol

Dave you are gonna run out of space!!! Your wife will want you to take her on vacation with all the moola you'll be making this year.

I'm already out of space, that's why I'm building another room in the garage. I have enough room now for what I have (at the sizes they are now) Not even enough room for them as adults and not enough room to set up all my baby racks.

I'm planning on this being my full time career, gonna have to start making moola if that's gonna work. So far I've spent several times more than I've made back. But like you said, that's close to turning around.

Hey, I was thinking of you and Tim today at lunch with all your winter storms and snow everywhere. It's in the high 60's here, driving my convertible with the top down and I almost had to turn on the heater, almost!!! Gotta love California!!!

I was in my snake room cleaning an dnoticed two of my holdbacks from 2007 had just shed. So ot comes the camera and took pics of Melanie first...

Then I pulled out Pebbles for her photo shoot, dang this one is a screamer!!!!

I also had them both out for a few shots together...

Oh yeah, while I was taking pics of Pebbles I noticed a lil action going on in the rsainbow cages. I lil action you might just be interested in......

Fluffy was starting to court Savannah, no actual hookup, Savannah was not in da mood

Yeah, she stuck out like a sore thumb (in a good way) totally clean and surprisingly, she was significantly lighter colored than any of the others. I was thinking as color comes in with this light canvas to start with....???? And turned out I was right!!!

Yeah, that was pretty exciting for me, AND, I have not finished up with BCI breeding season and going right into BRB breeding season. No rest for the wicked!!

pebbles is HOT HOT HOT but amn go fluffy go confirmed cop or not thats some serious trying she will give in no time flat lol

rainbowsrus Feb 08, 2008 12:02 PM

Yeah, I'm really not surprised the attempt was unsuccessful, still way early in the season. Savannah wanted nothing to do with fluffy, she even left the cage section, taking the tube "upstairs". (or should that be "uptube", no stairs involved) I noticed Fluffy was chasing her though, I saw him "upstairs" a little while later and back "downstairs" even later. Was definitely on the prowl!!!

That's the first time I've seen a BRB male approach a female and wrap on her. All other times I've found them already wrapped.

strictly4fun Feb 08, 2008 04:04 PM

which litter is Melanie, she's also from Fred n Wilma #1 right or did Mike get #1 (and another female I think #8) and you kept #2 and #7, memory is getting hazy I need a refreshing
Bob

rainbowsrus Feb 08, 2008 04:32 PM

Those pics are NOT Melanie, they are BU-TO-13. will have to pull them and re-label.

But to answer your question, Melanie is BE-FR-04

Your numnbers on the Wilma litter are all wrong except I kept lucky number 7!!

I had kept back one from each litter except Boo, and then added in a second one from Bullseye and let go of the lil twin from Bullseye for a total of one each from Betty, Wilma, Bullseye and Savannah.

it said sold to Mike and these were the only 2 picked already when I got my time slot and there was a nice normal female from Will I think Daphne maybe was the name but I don't know I didn't pick her also but I have never been a bright one unfortunately

rainbowsrus Feb 08, 2008 04:36 PM

In my excitement about seeing Fluffy courting I transposed two snakes in my mind. I was thinking BU-TO-13 was Melanie whle BE-FR-04 is actually Melanie.

will be pulling the pics from photobucket and relabeling them correctly.
