Green-Headed Female Ornate?

Miss_Marbles Feb 07, 2008 01:29 PM

I've acquired what looks like a female Ornate in all respects except that she/he has a solid green head. Is this common to certain populations of Ornates, anyone know? Tail is female, eyes are yellow-brown, hind claws are slender and not hooked. I've never seen a female Ornate with a green head, so thought at first it was a male, but I definately don't think so! My other females have the usual brown heads w/yellow spotting.

I have a female with a high degree of green on her head. She was raised from a juvenile, and I thought that she was male. She is an adult now and is very female.

I have seen pictures of ornate females with green, yellow, and even blue heads. I think you are correct, certain populations can have these atypical colorations.

I would love to see some pictures.
