we do need to see what is going to be proposed. But we as reptile community have to take this as a warning and realize we can no longer just be a group of animal breeders. we as a community make up a large part of a multi billion dollar a year industry. And that it is time to start setting up a system that will protects us as a whole. There are many groups out there who want to see us gone and they have the money and power to have lobbyist fight for them. Now its is our time to do the same. The gov't knows the dog and cat industry is to Strong to pull this with but the unorganized reptile breeder are not. The truth is a bunch of letters saying I love my snakes I want to sell my snakes and keep my snakes is a good start but it is just a small step that can easily be shot down. we cannot feel if we back down they will only take a inch because we all know they will take a mile.

This is just my feelings agree or disagree but something has to be done

This is not a multi billion dollar industry. Not even close. Maybe you should start by going to the handful of people in this business who make hundreds of thousands of year and see if they are willing to do something. There are maybe a dozen big money guns in this little industry and they need to start spending some of their profits on the legal defense of all in it not just themselves. The little people donating a few dollars here and there is great but it is way past time for the ones who have been seeing the big bucks to get behind this industry in more than just talk. It is also past time for PIJAC to come to the aid of this business. They take our money and they need to support us and not just the mainstream pet trade.

Actually I do beleive that it is pretty close to being a mulit billion dollar indusrty. Rodents, caging, heating, racking, imports, exports, the pet trade and much more has to be taken into consideration when coming up with totals. Importers alone spend millions each year easily, individual importers spend close to 250-300k a year alone and there are alot more out there then people think. I own a wholesale company in NE, we only do rodents and reptiles and we average close to 500k gross a year. There is alot of money in this trade that dosent meet the eye at first.
Just my opinoin on what I know and see...
