Argentine boa question

woodsracer Feb 08, 2008 05:47 PM

How can you tell if your argentine boa might be a motley? Connected pattern, lateral stripes, is that all? Thanks for any help you can give me.

It would be great if we could all see some photos of the snake you're talking about.

He is in shed at the moment, I'll try to get pics after he sheds.

This is a pure B.c.occidentalis, Argentine Motley.

Pure Argentines have connected dorsal pattern, and often side striping. But unless they look like the above picture, they aren't Motleys.

There is a website that lists all the proven mutations that are public knowledge. And there are many new morphs that haven't been released yet.

That looks pretty similar, thanks!

ChrisGilbert Feb 09, 2008 10:49 AM

Keep in mind that Argentine Motleys are somewhere around $12k last time any were for sale. So unless you produced yours yourself and got lucky, I doubt it is a Motley. Sorry, just the honest truth.

The pattern is common. The only way to know for sure is if you breed it and the pattern has obvious inheritability.
