I knew that would get you...

Vote now.

Here is a Hypo Jungle I was fortunate to wrest from the tight grip of Derek "The Big Boss Man" Yagi.

This boy is a Jungle of the proven Swedish Bloodline and a lovely little fellow if I say so myself. I love this fellows pattern. A bit more extreme than the Boa below but then he is a Hypo to boot.

This is an imported female Anerythristic Colombian Boa:

Note the similarity to the Hypo Jungle. The chain pattern followed by a stripe... This little girl was sold to the original owner as a male. I bought it, for a hefty sum I might add, as a male. I raised and kept him for two breeding seasons as a male. Two seasons in which he never ever ever climbed on the luscious female Ivory Anerythristic I had "him" with. Then I thought I'd double check the sex of this little lazy male. Sure enough. He is a she. A she with very large spurs but a she nonetheless. Beginning around March of 2007 she began eating like a female. This season she had lots of courtship and an eventual ovulation after being bred by a lovely really light Ghost male. Today she had her Post Ovulation Shed. If I am fortunate to get a nice litter from this little girl, this will be the first Ghosts for me to produce. Finally at long last!

So what do you think? Do you think that pattern will repeat itself?

Jeff:

Both snakes look fantastic!!!

My vote would be yes. I believe the trait will be passed onto the babies.

OK you have my vote, now where's my award.......

I vote yes, what do I win???

BTW, love it that even a "big breeder" like you has confused gender animals!! I take it after this long you're not going back to the seller wanting them to make it right?

I still would have paid his price even if I would have known it was a female. Course it was high enough that if it isn't genetic, he can have it back if he'll pay what I paid...

I'll take her back for the same deal if she doesn't prove genetic, cash and your cages back to you. I never should have sold him/her. She was brought in and purchased from Alfredo at Extreme Reptiles as a male and with those spurs I just never thought to probe her.

Good luck with her litter, please keep me on the list for one of the Ghosts if you sell any. How about an updated pic of her?

Brock

I had her for two years before I figured it out... I hope that I really really want to keep her after those babies come out. I certainly do not ever want to give her up. Perhaps I can set you up with a baby or two if she makes some cute babies like herself... Better probe them after you get them though... LOL

that anery is rocking jungles are nice, they pay will and anerys not so much but we dont raise boas for money so so it's got to be the anery

ChrisGilbert Feb 08, 2008 09:38 PM

Personally I would have paired her with a Jungle, that way if you got Supers there would be NO doubt!

I think there might be some inheritable trait going on, but I do not think it is the Jungle mutation.

I don't think it's a Jungle either. That is exactly why I didn't breed a Jungle to her. I guess my logic was that the likelihood that a pattern aberrancy could be caused by only a single type of mutation, that being the Jungle mutation, that that likelihood would be remote. I'm sure I could be wrong about that. I have been wrong many many times in the past and will make mistakes in the future. It could be the exact same gene. But, I do not even know if it is genetic or not yet. If I had bred her with a Jungle, and it is genetic, I likely would not be able to tell which are which. I would not even know if it is genetic or not really. I guess I thought it might be good to first find out if it is genetic or not. The only way to do that is to breed her with something other than a Jungle.

My logic was to first find out if in fact it is genetic or not. Then see what sort of proportions I get in the litter. What kind of extremes will I get? I don't know yet, but I hope to find out. I do know that aberrant Anerys are highly unusual. I do know that so far nobody has produced Jungle Anerys which will certainly dramatically increase the number of aberrant Anerys out there. Being an Anery Wacko, and unable to make the proper breeding pairings that others might, I will have to be content with what comes my way this time, if I am fortunate enough to be successful.

If it isn't Jungle, but it is still heritable, breeding to a Jungle would make it difficult to identify.

There aren't too many aberrant Anerys, I always thought Jungle Anerys and Jungle Pewters would be cool morphs. A Super Jungle Pewter is one of my dream boas!

With another Abberant Anery....to see if more Abberant Aneries could be produced...that is one AWSOME Anery....Best of luck with that project, I know I would be in the Market for a Female Abberant Anery...FOR SURE..

Our Male Abberant Anery...

As a wee little guy...next to a Hypo we used to have

What he looks like now...

LOL.Yes the pattern will repeat.I am not up on genetics an some still to this day confuse me.But 1 thing is almost certain.Wether genetic or not their will be at least 1 or 2 babies born with that same or very simalar pattern on it an sometimes an even better pattern in the litter.Just my opinion.
