'06 Sharp girl...

ChrisGilbert Feb 09, 2008 11:18 AM

FINALLY got some pictures of her. An '06 product of Ron Michelotti's pairing of a Triple Het Sharp Snowglow X Sharp Albino, making her 50% het Anery.
Enjoy, comments are welcome.

I think the colors captured well, at least those that can be seen in artificial light. I can not capture her pinks and lavender notes that can only be seen in sunlight.

And a baby shot, quite a change, and a nice one at that!

Hopefully she'll get even brighter!

It is hard to pick up in the pics, but can you see on her back where it is a more faded yellow along the edge connecting one saddle to another. It is only about 4 rows wide. Well, anyway, she has a lot of pink right there, as well as on her nose, lips, and down along her belly. It actually will not show up at all under artificial light. I can only see it outside in sunlight. When summer returns I am going to have to try and get some outdoor shots to pick it up. It is very neat, and not a common color on Sharps. At least from what I have seen.

This is her Sunglow brother, photographed and owned by Ron Michelotti. Pic from his site. Much more pink that my Albino has, but just an example.

Ruben Michel has an Albino brother that he said also has a lot of pink. Neat colors in this litter.

and the white contrast just compliments it as well. Hopefully you can make one that tops that one of Ron btw what are you pairing her with or that acquisition isn't purchased yet?

I'm undecided with her future mate.
I have a Motley that I might use. I am also considering a Squaretail or Jungle.

If I can I would like to go with a Paradigm or Aztec, but I don't know if I will be able to get one this year. And this is my last year to pick up a baby male to raise up and have ready when she is.

If you go with Jungle and I'm sure you want color you may want to check on Steve Ihrig's litter. He has his phenomenal super cherry salmon from Rich paired with a clean jungle so all salmon jungles and check out the color on this bad boy!!!!!!! That is everyone's dream

I've already spoken with Steve, and if I get a Jungle this year it will be from him. He did just have a nice litter from a Jungle X Colombian that was intensely colored, so I'm tempted to pick one of those. Still unsure if I want an Albino Jungle project, I might just get a female to raise up for Supers down the road.

looking out for you man I was in the market last year for double het sunglow from the lipstick line and didn't think TB sold any females but I know ChristianC got one but it was very few I woul imagine so I got a pair from John Martino and was looking for one more female carrying the lipstick gene and noticed Steve's crazy colored Lipstick sunglow male and clean jungle mom and they all have great color to them especially the tails which can only lead me to a redder sunglow or albino but here is my possible jungle female het lipstick that I lucked out on

Steve's pic

I've told Steve that if he ever makes something like that cherry super again to hook me up cuz that boy is outrageous to say the least and I would love to get a male to go with my female salmon

pics do her no justice

ChrisGilbert Feb 10, 2008 10:42 AM

of the Cherrys on Rich Ihle's table in Daytona '05. He also had a Bloody Salmon there. And honestly, those Cherry Salmons rivaled the Bloods! The powers of selective breeding!

Thanks for showing the best looking strain . I still wonder why their arent more Sharps out there. I guess an undeserved bad rap. along w/ a smear campaign

TnK Feb 09, 2008 03:52 PM

There are plenty of Sharp's out there, its just the grip hasnt been loosened by those that have.
Market Control is everything in the morph game, they would rather feed them then sell them .
Another couple years and they'll be pretty common.

I don't think any breeders of Sharps are purposely holding on to stock so the market doesn't get flooded. I think the only animals they're keeping are those they intend to raise and breed. Bottom line with Sharps is that if you want one, you can get one. They are 3-4x as expensive as a comparably graded Kahl strain though.

A word of caution as well because in the past few months I have seen two cases where Kahl Albinos were being sold as Sharps. That is definitely going to screw people down the road and make a mess of things.

There aren't many breeders producing Sharps up to now. This year I would expect to see more because it was 2004 that they kind of "reappeared" on the market so to say, when the first Sharp Sunglows were born as well. '08 will give a lot of options for those looking for their "flavor" of Sharp strain Albinos. From crosses with different locales for different traits, to new morph combinations, and hets for future projects.

So far the only visual Sharp designer morphs are:
Sunglow
Snow (only 2)
Paradigm
SnowGlow (only 1)
Paraglow (only 1)

So there sure is a lot to be done, and the Paradigm option pretty much doubles the opportunities.
