Sterling, Super streak, Silver Bullet ??

nephrurus Feb 09, 2008 11:35 AM

OK guys I think I've confused myself pretty well here. I was under the impression that the super streak is a super pastel cinny, a silver bullet is a super cinny pastel, and a sterling is a super cinny super pastel. Is that right? If not please clue me in in on the right morph titles.

Thanks!

If an actual BP breeder sees an error, please correct.

Pewter = Heterozygous Pastel, Heterozygous Cinny
Black Pewter = Heterozygous Pastel, Heterozygous Black Pastel
Silver Bullet = Homozygous (Super) Cinny, Heterozygous Pastel
Silver Streak = Homozygous Pastel, Heterozygous Black Pastel
Sterling = Homozygous Pastel, Heterozygous Cinny

I don't think a double Homozygous has been produced yet. The Black Pewter may simply be called a Pewter. And I do not know if there is a Black Pastel version of the Silver Bullet, if so I guess it would look nearly the same.

is super black pastel/pastel [ian g.] kd

nephrurus Feb 10, 2008 10:21 AM

so you are telling me there is a different name used just because a black pastel was used to make it instead of a cinny?

i95east Feb 10, 2008 03:22 PM

yes, silver bullet [produced and named by graziani using cinnamons] and silver streak [produced and named by ian g. using black pastels]are the same combo, a pastel version of a super [patternless] cinnamon/black pastel. pewters made with black pastels are commonly refered to as black pewters. kd

different names are used, because both the Black Pastel and Cinny are phenotypically different. Although genetically they are the same (allelic mutations that produce a single Homozygous form when bred together).

Super Black Pastels are patternless.

The Silver Streak HAS pattern.

It is Super Pastel and Black Pastel in one. Or technically speaking, Homozygous Pastel, heterozygous Black Pastel.

will produce 50% Pewter, 50% Pastel.

If You were describing the makeup, then a Homozygous Pastel Heterozygous Cinny is the same as using the herper slang of Super Pastel mixed with Cinny.

i haven't produced any of these yet [maybe next year] all my knowledge of these things comes off this forum and stuff i see at the shows. all this is just my understanding as presented by the people who first produced these things. there seems to have been sterlings [super pastel/cinnamons, the one with pattern] on the classifieds several times listed in error as silver bullets. look on graziani's website at silver bullets [super cinnamon/pastels] they are patternless. greg has them at daytona every year. ian gzzz had his siver streaks,[super black pastel/pastel] at chicago two years ago, also patternless. i actually think the sterlings are the coolest looking of the three, near the toip of my list for sure. best of luck this season. kd

wait, i can make this even more confusing. mark mandyk's [marcus jayne] sterling from 2005 turned out not to be what he thought it was. that snake is pictured in nerd's book [oops] try ralph davis's journal post from june 17th, 2006. forgetting for a moment anything i have read or have been told, here is what makes sense to me, all names aside. the patternless snakes would seem to be associated with super cinnamon/black pastel, as they are also patternless. the patterned one would seem to be a really faded out super pastel. just a guess. maybe someone who knows these guys [gg and ian g.]could get them to give us something based on their firsthand knowledge, otherwise we may just be repeating information that may be incorrect. kd
