Tile, linoleum, or laminant flooring.

You want something easy to clean.

I would go tile it adds the most value to any building and can withstand a lot of punishment.

As a floorcovering installer & long time fellow herper I agree with Jeremy.

Carpet fibers hold dirt, germs, stains, etc, no matter how well you try to take care of it. Reptiles will occasionally defecate while being held or removed from cage, not counting accidentally dropping feeder rodents 'n such.

If you've taken up as much old carpet as I have you probably would never install carpet in your house again. I have hardwood floors throughout my house now and will not go back to carpet.

My reptile room is an enclosed garage. I painted the floor and love it. The ease of cleaning, decent appearance, and no worries of ruining the flooring has me happier than a pig in slop. Ha! No, my floor doesn't look like a pig pen, either. Well, not all the time, at least. Haha!

Ceramic tile & most laminates will increase the overall home value the most. Ceramic tile is the most durable.

Vinyl flooring (sheet goods) gives the most decorative options at the lowest cost and if taken care of will last many, many years.

The worst choice available is vinyl tile, especially the "peel & stick" kind. Don't even think about it.

Of course, floor paints are probably the least attractive unless you're artistic, but it is very durable, least expensive, and easiest to take care of.

Now that you know the pros & cons of each it comes down to personal preferrence.

Hope this helps you make your mind up.

Have a great day!

I will probley just finish out in laminate like the rset of the house. Just haveing my german shepherd running around the house and sweeping his hair up makes me want to stay with laminate. thanks again guys.

Good Choice although, I am really intrigued by the look one could create with a clear coated concrete floor.

Not only does it create a contemporary minimalist feel, but depending on your cage/enclosure design. It could look quite natural, anything with a granite background, or feel with the lighting empthasis on the enclosure rather than the room will give the impression the cage face is built into a granite wall. With a few comfort plants in the room.............

Yeah that could be a nice relaxed atmosphere.......

Sorry is their drool on the screen..

Wow! The inside of my monitor got all fogged up from your drool. Mark's post caused the same thing but not as bad as yours, slobbermouth. Hahaha!!!

Take care!

I know a herper who has his herp room with a sealed concrete floor like HappyHillbilly spoke of. Awesome floor. I'd love to do that in my house in the kitchen and bathrooms. It is becoming more common in upscale homes too even though it is less costly than some other choices.
