Eating issue update

lilbitlizz Aug 27, 2003 12:37 PM

Hey everyone,

My parents decided to try a smaller meal. THey returned the rat (nicknamed Pepina for the length of the stay) and exchanged it for large mouse (half the size of the rat). My boa ate the mouse. So maybe she doesn't like the larger rats. My question now is should I feed two mice in one feeding? I have read horror stories about doing this. What about a mouse a week? Would that work? Let me know...

The snake already prefers mice. Mice and rats have very different odors.
Try pre-killed (frozen/thawed) mice. They keep for months in the freezer and cannot hurt your snake. Just thaw out one or 2 and drop them into the snake's enclosure.
2 at a time should be ok.

...and I think to myself, "What a wonderful world."

However, she has been eating rats for at least two years that I am sure of with the previous owner...why the sudden change? Also, I'd like to keep her on a live diet, so do you foresee problems with two live mice at a time?
