Irian Jaya

ryan_m Feb 11, 2008 10:27 PM

Hi, I'm thinking of acquiring an Irian Jaya. I already own an enclosure that i built myself that is 45 inches long and 22 inches tall. I know that these snakes like to climb and was wondering if this size enclosure will be sufficient for an adult.Thanks.

It could work, but Id suggest bigger, at least taller, Also how wide is it?

My enclosures for my carpets is 8L x 4D x 4T However thats on the large scale and even a 4 x 4 x 2 should work

can we say spoiled snakes? the size cage he described would work beyond great for a irian jaya heck for jungle or coastal for that matter i think reptilicus even uses 3X18 cages for there male carpets but yes bigger is better for adults but the size he gave is more than fine

To Pat's questions its 22 inches wide.

just dont put a baby in there of course a lil to large for a baby lol however that size would be more then perfect for a irian jaya and im sure he or she would love it with a few climbing whatever you wanna put in there lol

Thanks, the enclosure already has two built in shelves on either side, and i would definitely give him/her some more branches and what not to climb on. Thanks for the help.

lol just a tad spoiled lol i got my male ungle carpet in a 3X2X18 cage but im saving every penny i get to get him a bigger cage he is a big boy and hate having him in a small cage but when you have a ton of animals and bills cant get everythign right away but soon he will have a nice 4X2X18 its amazing what just a extra foot will do for cage space. one day i would love to get a single display cage for one of my carpets but when evry other animal is taking up room cant really find anywhere to put another big cage lol
