Just a Brief Intro to the 'Cryptic'

jaysitesreptiles Feb 12, 2008 04:04 AM

I had originally refused to put a morph name to this guy until I proved it out. It has gotten very undeserving to refer to him as that little unproven guy so my mind has changed. I feel as if he more than deserves it, especially since I have gravid girls from him and will know more very soon. I have posted pictures occasionally but he now gets a formal
introduction.

'Cryptic' is what I have chosen for him. Regardless of what is to be of his genetics, its fitting and I now have a much better way to reference such an awesome snake. Not trying to bring out any naysayers by any means. Im just a small-time hobbyist with an animal deserving of a name.

Here are some recent pics of him along with some other pictures from this season...I have a few other things going, mostly just wanted to introduce him as many have asked about him....

Cryptic:

Cinny:

Spider:

A new line of Pastel(CH) 'Fusion' Pastel. Nice ringer as well.

Nice, I want one...

ShawnGilbert Feb 12, 2008 02:29 PM

Very nice. Kinda reminds me of wht I think a cinny genetic stripe will look like.

I am currently addressing this and have spoke to Kara. I can say that no where on any public forums or sites has the name Cryptic been used for me to have known. I will post back on this thread when I have a resolution. Regardless this little guy is more than deserving of a name...There have been a few I have saw that look similar, but have a broken stripe or different belly. I am very determined to find out whats in him and how to reproduce it if its not co-dom or recessive. I cant think this is a 'random mutation'. Time will tell. Regardless, thanks to the kind wishes and e-mails.

Heres a belly shot...

He's awesome. He definately looks like a Genetic Stripe cross. Maybe with a Sable or something. Good Luck. Keep us posted!!!

After seeing his belly, you can add me to the list of people who want one!

Good luck proving him out.

he's fantastic, I'd want one. He definitely does deserve a name.
Forget the haters! haha

Jay, what is the snakes history?

Too me, it looks like a "B" or "C" grade Genetic Stripe. It is much darker with a faded out stripe, different from the G Stripes I have seen. I like the look, breed a Pastel or Hypo into it

As far as the name, a well known breeder has a broken stripe line of G Stripes that they call Cryptic G Stripes. I think since your animal looks so much like a G Stripe, it might be confusing down the road.

jaysitesreptiles Feb 12, 2008 09:31 PM

Thanks again guys.

I can see that, but it seems that Cryptic is sticking nicely and has been to those who knew. To be honest I may just have to take my chances with it.

He was an early '07 CH.

Here is a pic I took a while back in which I cranked up the flash to get his color and what pattern he does have. Maybe this will show he doesnt look much like a G-Stripe...

Looks to be the same thing as Ozzy is calling a hyper stryper.
We sold a c.h baby male, and a 3000 gram female a few months ago, very cool snakes, but already named.

Good luck with them, they make some really cool crossed when bred with a woma.

Cool. Ive seen a few that look similar, but either the stripe is broken or the belly is different. So far I've not heard of or saw any offspring. Cryptic is sticking for this guy as far as Im concerned even if Im the only one that calls it that or maybe it will be another morph with two names, wouldnt be the first time. Joke is on me I guess, we shall see....

You should wait until you prove it out. I do not want you to think I am attacking you here or anything but including myself I have known about 8 or 9 people that had animals nearly identical to that one. Dark morphs, coffee balls, striped voodoo, and many other names over the years and none of them have proven to be genetic. Strangely enough on the really dark animals they seem like such a sure thing to be genetic but so many people have bred them and they have not been. I'm sure many recall that awesome black baby ball that Kevin had that was darker than any super cinny. It got lighter as it got bigger and never proved out.

jaysitesreptiles Feb 14, 2008 07:12 PM

I dont take those things as 'attacks' especially when a person presents what they think in a respectful manner as you did here. I agree to an extent and originally wasnt going to but I had reasons as to why I did. Many good names have been gobbled up as you stated. Like I said earlier, Im happy if Im the only person that calls him that, this is just a hobby for me that I do for me. One thing is for sure, most of the naysayers sure do disappear when it comes time to show what they hatched out....Im sure you would agree
