new to beardies

Hello,
First off let me say I have never owned a beardie but am looking into getting a pair(although I own many other herps) My question is can I house a beardie and an iguana in the same enclosure? The enclosure is an extra bathroom that is occupied by my iguana in the winter months(she lives in an outdoor enclosure during the warmer months)I used to have tree limbs for her to bask on but she much prefers to be on the floor on her pink fluffy dog bed(sigh)She is very docile but Im not sure if the beardies would take offense to her or if anyone thought their would be issues. Just like my iguana I would start them out in a tank untill I saw they were thriving and then let them have free range in this room. It has a beautiful large window that pours in sunshine and ofcourse already rigged up with uvb, heat, timers etc. Thanks!

bearded dragon should be kept in its own separate cage. A green iguana and bearded dragon have different needs completely. They may share a love of UVB light and greens, but thats it. Green iguanas require a much higher humidity than a bearded dragon and I believe a slightly higher ambient temperature.

Also, a green iguana can severely injury or kill a bearded dragon even accidentally. You are putting a 4-5' long lizard in the same space as a 18"-20" (on average) lizard, the size difference alone could mean trouble. Even though green iguanas are completely vegetarian, their claws and teeth can easily kill a bearded dragon, even if she (or he) just stood on the dragon.

Best to keep that bearded dragon in his own cage year around. He can be allowed to run about for exercise outside his cage, or giving a outdoor pen for the warm summer time..but never have the dragon and iguana loose in the same area together. Just too much risk for the bearded dragon to get hurt.

Not MY iguana! Just kidding, seems I lost my commom sense and you found it for me. Those are all really good points. I will add however that in the winter I cannot get my iguana to sit under her heat source no matter the temperature. She puts herself in a self brumation mode. Never was effected by the lower humidity in the winter as she hardly sheds being in her self appointed brumation. Just an observation. I have a very large tank I can use for beardies which will house them very comfortably. Thanks again
