Do you guys with larger alligator snappers all hibernate them during the winter?
Right now, mine are in heated tanks in the basement till they go outside next spring. Then I will deal with keeping them outside next winter.
Does a large turtle automatically go into a hibernation cycle based on the time of the year/ Or is it strictly temperature related.
This is my first winter with larger snappers , and I had planned on just keeping the heaters on and feeding through the winter.
Is this OK?
If I turn off the heaters, the water will never really get below the low 60's, even in the middle of winter. Will this just slow them down and cause them to eat less?
