Why cant you put babies on sand? Everywhere i see 10" or large. My problem is that i am using craft paper and crickets get under it in no time. Help!

Babies aren't real adapt at striking their target. Sometimes they get sand instead. Sand can cause impaction and death if too much is ingested.
You could try feeding yours in a feeding bin or line the edges of your paper with scotch tape to hold it down.

as 3 week old dragons only need 1/4 " crickets (or there abouts) you can put the crickets into a dish with one inch high sides. The dragon will be able to step over it and get the crickets fairly easy but the crickets won't jump out to easily.

Sand is bad for little dragons as they can injest so much of it when getting their crickets...and since they use their tongue to help catch the crickets, they wind up getting a bunch of sand stuck to it as well. It also happens when they go around 'tasting' their territory. WIth such a small body they quickly can get too much sand and have impactions in their intestines which will quickly kill them.

When I fed my dragon on paper towel, I kept the crickets in a small bag and dropped a few in at at time, into a glass dish. This way the dragon has a chance to eat them all before they could jump out and hide. It is also easier to count how many do manage to go into hiding to dig out after.

I use shelf liner plastic non slip material. I buy it at Walmart it comes in like 6 foot rolls for 2 bucks, but I cut it to the size of the cage. After the basking light is on it for a while it almost sticks to the bottom of the cages. If you look at my pics by hitting mystical dragons below it is the white colored stuff in the cages. No bugs get under it and it does have bumps so the dragons can get footing, and run well on it. Spot cleans great with a wet paper towel, and stays very clean and sanitary. I think it would work great for babies.
