Is this Ovulation????

latin1956 Feb 13, 2008 10:04 PM

This female has locked up at least 7 times that I saw. Tonight I placed the male in with her and nothing. Well I noticed a few days ago she was soaking in her water bowl. Here are some pictures, let me know what you think.

Thanks

I'd say no.....that bottom pic tells it all for me.
if it was, in that pic, she would look like she would have swallowed a coke can. It's probably on the way......keep an eye out!

I would say no. But she is very close. She has the pre ovulation swell showing. Keep a close eye on her and I think within the next two - three weeks you will see ovulation and you will know when she does. It will look like she swallowed a rabbit. Just my opinion. Paul

She looks flat out gravid to me.

The swelling looks to be back closer to the tale. Can't tell for sure but looks good! Only my observations with my snakes, but when they are building up to ov. or actual ov., when picking them up the swollen area it feels tight and bloated and stays put when holding a couple inches down from the neck area while streched out. Now my girls that are gravid when holding them like this the eggs and such will gravitate tward the tail and they will look real skinny from there up. Also when palpating them while still building the follicls (or eggs) are still easier to palpate. After ovulation the eggs start to get softer and harder to feel one from the next. Just my 2 cents.
Hope this helps and good luck,
Casey

I here what you are saying Casey but from what I see in the pic labeled Feb 13 it looks to me like its still the pre ov swell. If you hold them up and let them drape down her last third of her body will have that big pouch. To me that is how she still looks but who knows? Just wait and see if she starts into a shed cycle soon. Paul
