Hi Jay!
You don't sound money hungry, nothing wrong with your question, at all. I work with a lot of youngsters and I always tell them to find something they love to do and figure out a way to make money at it.

The answer to your question can run pretty deep as there are a lot of factors, however, the short answer is: Yes, some people can and do make a decent living breeding snakes.

Catch ya later!

Thanks, just was always a dream to have my own reptile business ever since i was probably about 8 or 9 yrs old.

Twas always a dream of mine, too. I'm dabbling in it but I don't think I want to get as far into it as it would take to be full-time, as far as being a breeder/seller goes.

I think one could specialize for a few years but it takes a lot of re-investing, experimental breeding, etc, to come up with various morphs to stay on top of the game. I feel that working with various species increases one's chance, but you have to like the species or it will all be "work" and pretty much in vain.

By the way, Jay, my "I work with youngsters..." comment wasn't meant as if I felt you were a younsgter. Haha! I think you know that but I want to make sure you didnt take it the wrong way.

Catch ya later!

NO offense taken to the youngster comment. Actually i'm only 16 and some of u guys have been working with snakes for longer than i've been alive! At this stage i'm just learning as much as i can so that i can become a good breeder. I'll take in as much info as u "Old Heads" can offer.(not that u guys are old but you've been breeding/owning for a while)

Hmmm, 16, 46. There's more than one reason why some of us don't look at age when dealing with other people. Hahaha!!!

Who you callin' "Old"? Hahaha!!! Just pickin' at ya.

See ya 'round!
