OT new colors

Anybody know what to call these? Other than nummy feeder rats?? I had three pop up in a recent litter, now about 4 weeks old.

and in a bucket with two similar looking brothers. I've had white ones with nose and base of tail brown but not seen one with this much color.

Then these showed up in cleaning this wek, were spread between two cages with two females each but I know I had shifted pinkies around after feeding several off so could all be from the same litter.

Geez Dave, aren't you satisfied with all the BRB morphs, now you have to start producing rat morphs??? Seriously, you should sell those as pets, they are neat looking. Not sure what they are called, I don't think I've ever seen rats that color combination.

Actually, you can't feed them to your BRB's, that would go against PETA's call for a vegetarian diet. You need to give your snakes a nice tossed salad from now on.

Thanks,
Ed

Dave,
...It is interesting to see what mutations turn up in our rodent breeding colonies. Most of my breeding stock has descended from rats I got 20 years ago. I did add some males from another breeder about 10 years ago. I have had hairless ones occur in a few litters. The hairless ones are not very healthy and produce small litters so I did not try to selective breed to keep them producing in my rat colony. I had these

which the rat breeders call "blue phase" show up in litters several years ago and I kept some of them so that now about 10% of my baby rats are born this color.

Hey Jeff, Yeah, that was where I was headed. Over the years I've seen a lot pop out of the colony and anything I liked I kept and now have....

Black
Black hooded
Black capped
white
Tan
Tan hooded
Tan capped
Blue
Blue hooded
Blue capped
Agouti (looks like a wild rat)
Brown
Brown hooded
Siamese (not sure of correct name but white with brown nose and base of tail)
Now this darker "siamese" just popped out of nowhere.

I like having lots of colors since each female has it's own tag it's easier to rotate them through the male breeder cage and always know which female belongs to which tag. I simply don't put any of the same colored females into any cage at the same time.

I thought they looked like Siamese-cat-colored too. Lol maybe they could be called seal-point or chocolate-point like those kinds of cats are.

Those are Siamese rats. They will mature to have dark brown points like Siamese cats.
