Food Serving question 3 1/2 ft iguana

RoadSpawn Feb 14, 2008 08:36 PM

Hello
I just wanted to get a general idea of how much a 31/2 ft iguana should be eating per day. Could you post some pics of what your serving looks like for you iguana. I know that they are all different but I just want to get a general idea on the differences out there. I feel mine is not eating what it should be at his size. I did get him as a rescue and he was a little thin. Thanks......

While it has been a few years since I have had an iguana I know you should give him as much as he will eat. Mine was also a rescue and difficult to feed in the beginning. I found that by blending up all his food making a thick green sludge out of it he would gobble it all down! I usually fed collards, turnips, mustards, escarole, and another type of green I can't recall its name. I also threw in some cantaloupe, butternut squash, and green beans (boy did he love green beans and cantaloupe!). After a few weeks to a month I began offering him chopped up meals, rather than blended, and he continued to eat all I offered. Mine was about 40 inches or so when I had to part paths and he was eating a couple dinner plates a day and looking nice and plump.

Hope this helps.

(miss ya Boris)
