Favorite morphs

wvherp Feb 15, 2008 08:49 AM

As everyone prepares to bring their breeders out of brumation, I thought I would poll the forum to see what morphs are most preferred. Corn snakes are so beautiful, it may be hard to choose one type. Currently I only have one normal female that will hopefully breed this year but hope to build upon my collection (I have other kings, milks). For me, there is nothing quite like the Okeetees. What about you??

Old school bloods are probably my favorite... That and really crisp, clean, yellow-less anerys.

I like intense yellow, so I'll go with normal butters, butter Motleys and stripes.
Lavenders are high on my list as well.

I'm a fan of big, bold, contrasty colors, so I'm partial to Okeetees and reverse Okeetees myself.

For me, I think this wild-caught locality "Miami" phase a friend of mine captured is hard to beat.

Next would be butters and hypo lavendars.

I do want to make a bit of a change. Yes, if your talking morphs, then as I said in my above post, I love Butters & Lavenders, but my favorite corns are high contrast Miami corns like Doug's, and nice Okeetees. There's just something about a high silver corn with orange or red saddles that is very pleasing to the eye. I love them. Here's my 05 Miami male.

Nice looking Miami you have there!, and thanks for the compliment. And I agree, nice examples of both types you mentioned are just plain hard to beat!

Here's another pic of a nice looking wild-caught cornsnake I captured in central Florida in the shedding process.

I'd say Reverse Okeetees are my favorites.

May be a stupid question, but why are they called "reverse" Okeetee? If there is no black pigment, aren't they albino?

DMong Feb 17, 2008 05:41 PM

That is the VERY reason they are coined "reverse" Okeetee. Yes they are simply an amel(albino) Okeetee corn as you said.

That the actual reason for the name, is because good examples of "Okeetee" corns display wide black borders,.....when the black is absent due to amelanism(albinism), the snake is left with wide white borders instead.......thus the name "reverse".

Like most I would have to put okeetees at the top of the list

another that would go towards the top of my list would be motley creamsicles (my line anyway...lol)

Cinnamons are up there as well

The list could go on and on and can change daily...or even hourly but I will end this short list with...wild caughts..
I love the look of almost all wild caughts I have seen. Just something about the look.

This is a difficult one for me but,if I had to choose only one,it would be okeetee! Jeff

Butters, but not motley or stripes. I like the butterscotch spectrum better than the yellow screamers.

Abbotts' Oks and Amel Stripes are both way up there, too.
