wireless/best digital thermometer?

terrapene Feb 15, 2008 11:49 AM

I am upgrading my incubator...what do you think about the wireless digital thermometers? It seems it would be nice to have the remote sensor right in the incubator without having to drill hole for wire on the probe. Any experience? And while we are at it...what do you think are the best/most accurate digital thermometers? (I already have a temp gun, I am looking for incubator thermometers). Thanks in advance!

If you really want the best.. something like this is nice:
www.omega.com/ppt/pptsc.asp?ref=HH370&Nav=teml041

But that is like $350.00. Hey, you asked for the best.

Honestly, for an incubator, check out the digital meters at www.beanfarm.com. Those are good enough.

This dial thermometer rocks. You can get the 0-100F model for your application. Need to drill a 1/4" hole, and the dial rests on top of the incubator..

As far as wireless, I haven't tried one of those yet for any application.

Thanks Mark,
I tried a wireless "Acu Rite" I bought at Wal-Mart today...it was off by about 4 degrees Farenheit! It was pretty cool to just set the sensor right inside the icubator without running a wire, but if it isn't accurate, it's obviously not worth it. I'll probably just go with the Bean Farm as they have a pretty good reputation for selling quality stuff.

If anyone else out there has experience with wireless thermometer...please share your thoughts...
