WOW ! Crickets to Mealworms in minutes !

breaker4show Aug 27, 2003 03:08 PM

I always here how alot of people have trouble changing there geks diet from crickets to mealworms ! Well ive been feeding my geks crickets for 6 months but decided breeding mealworms is easier so i chose the easy route , so i ordered 1000 small and 1000 large mealworms ! The second i put the mealworms in there containers, they jumped right up to eat ! I am so happy they are being so good about this ! Just wanted to share !

Mine did the same thing when I got them.. and my hatchlings have never gotten anything but mealworms.. Unless its the occasional waxworm..I never feed crickets...One due to the trial of keeping them.. 2 because of the risk for parasites.

ive offered crix and mealwroms.. both with no problems..i keep a bunch of different herps so use em for both, they get a few crix each every couple of days and X amount of mealwroms every day..

This reminds me of a story I once heard:

A man once asked a friend of his what he did to keep his prize-winning coon dogs looking so good. The friend replied "I feed them turnip greens, and NOTHING else". The man went home and tried it with his dogs, but they wouldnt eat the turnip greens, or even get near them. Several day later, his dogs were looking very poorly, so he called his friend up. He said "I tried to feed my dogs turnip greens like you said, but they wont eat them", and the friend then replied "Oh, thats no problem. My dogs wouldnt eat them either for the first three weeks or so".
