amazoa Feb 16, 2008 09:35 AM

Pictured here is a normal size Redfoot hatchling next to a much smaller one with their representative eggs next to them. So far I have had 3 small hatchlings make it. About 4 months ago I posted a note about a pair of redfoot females that throw these tiny eggs. Last year none hatched this year it's happening and thanks to the two guys on the forum that encouraged me to never give up==EJ and Mayday==Thanks guys Richard Rooker

At least the mini's are hatching! That is really neat that you are getting such a difference in egg/hatchling size. Are the mother's similar in size?

The twins pictured here laying are 2/3 the size of our largest Redfoot female. The weird thing is I have another female the size of the twins that lays as large of eggs as our largest female does......questions...questions???

By the way I have never had an incubation period go over 145 days at 84 degrees but I have heard it can be as long as 220 days. Most of my eggs pip at 120-130 days. Good luck with your eggs and let us know when they hatch. Richard

Cool mini's I thought all phayrei eggs weighed 45-55 grams untill last year when a new laying female pooped out some "mini'eggs. They hatched and weighed 35 grams.I've still got one and its cought up with the others from other clutches.I wounder if yours will stay smaller or catch up?This is what its all about, growing things up that arnt normal.Ive got a yard full of odd'es,lumps and bumps, gaints and dwarfs, tall, flat, round, zigzag central scute, but my fave Quazemoto a cb 93 phayrei is a twisted freek that looks like a 60lb pancake/Mt,tort hybred.I keringe everytime I see him breed. I'm workin on some very small emys emys im going to breed back, ill let you know how they turn out in around twenty years!Back to the labratory egor.....its alive,ITS ALIVE Viconstine
